🌱 Asparagus
1. Key things to know
- Nothing dries out while you are harvesting any more. A spear used to turn into a fern after 25 minutes, halfway through a one-hour harvest, so you had to keep coming back or lose the early ones. That is over. Every spear now stands and waits until the harvest period ends.
- So prune, walk away, and come back once at the 30-minute mark. All 10 spears are standing by then and one visit takes the lot. Checking more often does not give you more, because spears appear on a fixed clock.
- Ten spears is the free amount. Cut those 10 and the field still comes back in 21 hours. Keep cutting after that and the wait stretches out towards 73 hours.
- Seeds come after the 4th cycle and never before. Clear the field then and you get 1 Asparagus Seed. Clear it earlier and you get nothing.
2. The 6 stages, in order
-
Grow strong roots
The plant grows roots under the ground for 3 days. On top, a fern grows bigger and bigger.
Use 20 Organic Fertilizer to grow the plant from stage A to D at once. A 100% Rain cuts the time left in half.
Stage D is not ready to harvest. The big fern has no spears in it, and clicking will not give you any. -
Prune, which means cut the fern back
Click the Crop Field. That opens the harvesting period.
You do not get Asparagus Spears from pruning.
-
Harvest Asparagus Spears
Spears appear one every 2 minutes 45 seconds, so about 10 of them in the half hour, and you pick one by clicking anywhere inside the field rather than having to hit the spear itself.
A spear stays pickable for the whole 30 minutes, so nothing you leave behind turns into a fern while the harvest period is open and you never have to sit and watch the field.
The easy way to harvest. Prune, go and do something else, then come back once at the 30-minute mark. All 10 spears are standing there waiting for you, so a single visit takes the lot.Only spears count for Quests, Orders and Competitions.
-
Grow-out, which means stop cutting
AsparagusFeeding the rootsLeave the spears, they feed the rootsThe tooltip changes to this. Spears keep appearing and the game still lets you cut them. Do not cut them.
Every spear you leave turns into a fern, and the ferns feed the roots for the next cycle.
-
Regeneration
How long you wait depends on how many ferns you left standing: all 10 of them and the field is ready again in 21 hours, none at all and it takes 73.
You stopped cutting You kept cutting Spears today ~10 ~20 Ready to prune again in 21 hours in 73 hours Good if you play every day you plan to be away for the next few days You cannot use Fertilizer during this stage.
Hover the field to see the exact time left. When it runs out the field is a full fern again, and pruning it starts the next cycle.
-
Collect the Seed
On the 4th cycle the ferns grow red berries. They cannot be cut.
When the berries are ripe, clear the Crop Field. You get 1 Asparagus Seed and empty soil.
The Seed plants Asparagus again from your Barn, for free. Clear the field earlier and you get no Seed.
3. How to unlock Asparagus
Asparagus is not sold in the Shop, so you get it from a 10-Quest Chapter instead. Molly Bennett phones you to start it, but only when all 3 of these are true:
- You are Level 50.
- 3 Orders delivered to the Charity Foundation. Charity Orders unlock with the first two tasks of the Quest “Into the Wild”.
- Joe works on your Farm. He is the one who recommends you to Molly.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY BELLFLOWER MEADOW.
That land is a separate purchase and does not help here. Charity Orders come from the first two tasks of “Into the Wild”.
The order does not matter, and the phone rings as soon as you finish the last one.
The Chapter is 10 deliveries from your Kitchen, 2 Recipes at a time, and at the end Molly sends you the Asparagus Seed Box.
4. Picking a whole row with Click Locking
With Click Locking switched on in Settings, click and hold the mouse button, then drag the cursor across several Crop Fields standing side by side:
- While a spear is standing, every click takes a spear. Never a fern.
- When all spears are picked, a click cuts the fern under the cursor.
So dragging is safe while spears are still standing. It cannot cut your ferns by mistake.
5. Limits and extras
- Level 50 to unlock and to plant.
- 12 Crop Fields maximum, and only on your Home Farm.
- The Harvester and the Seeding Plan both skip Asparagus.
6. Why isn’t it working?
I pruned and the Quest did not move.
Pruning is not a harvest, so wait for the spears to come up and pick those instead.
Nothing has come up yet.
The first spear appears about 3 minutes after you prune, and you can pick it about 3 minutes after that. Empty soil at the start is normal.
I used Organic Fertilizer and nothing happened.
It only works on a new planting, during those first 72 hours.
My field is taking 3 days to come back.
You cut more than 10 spears. The first 10 are free, but every one after that adds about 5 hours to the wait, so leave the rest standing as ferns.
Do I have to buy the land in Bellflower Meadow?
No. Charity Orders come from the first two tasks of the Quest “Into the Wild”.
Where are my seeds?
Only after the 4th cycle, and clearing the field then gives you 1 Seed. See step 6.
7. All the times, before and after
Asparagus was retuned in August 2026, so the harvest period is shorter and a spear now waits for you through the whole of it.
