Hedgehog

How do I get a Hedgehog?

You can obtain the Hedgehog from the Winter Event 2025 popup if you finish all three parts. Once unlocked, it will appear on your farm and begin roaming its designated area near the bushes in the NE part of your Farm.

What is the Hedgehog?

The Hedgehog is a helpful farm pet that hunts beetles on your farm. When properly fed, it patrols your growing plants and keeps bugs away. Any plant protected by the Hedgehog will yield one extra product when harvested, making it a valuable companion for boosting production.

Feeding Your Hedgehog

Your Hedgehog needs to be fed in order to actively hunt bugs. When it is hungry, it wanders near bushes and will not patrol your plants. You can check its status by clicking on it; if it needs food, feeding will be required before it resumes hunting.

To feed the Hedgehog, you must have the required food item in your inventory. Clicking on a hungry Hedgehog places the food on the ground, after which the hedgehog walks over and eats it. Once feeding is complete, you receive XP as a reward.

After being fed, the Hedgehog remains satisfied for 8 hours. During this time, it will actively hunt bugs. When the 8 hours expire, it must be fed again to continue providing bonuses.

Bug Hunting

Once fed, the Hedgehog automatically begins hunting bugs without any further interaction. It patrols your growing plants, chasing and catching beetles that appear nearby. Each successful hunt protects specific plants, and those protected plants will yield one extra product when harvested.

The number of plants that receive protection depends on how many growing plants you currently have on your farm. Growing plants include crops, shrubs, grapevines, and trees. You must have more than 10 growing plants to receive any bonus.

During a hunt, the Hedgehog moves between selected plants. As it approaches them, beetles spawn nearby. The Hedgehog chases the beetles and catches them using a short jumping animation. The protection is applied automatically, and the bonus product is granted when the affected plants are harvested.

Finding Your Hedgehog

If you lose track of your Hedgehog, you can easily locate it. Clicking on the Hedgehog area in the background will move the camera directly to its position. An arrow indicator will also appear, pointing toward the Hedgehog so you can quickly find it.

Fun Interaction: The Curl

The Hedgehog has a playful interaction that you can trigger manually. Clicking on it three times in quick succession, within one and a half seconds, causes it to curl up into a defensive ball. After about one and a half seconds, it uncurls and returns to whatever it was doing before.

Hedgehog Behaviors

When the Hedgehog is hungry and not fed, it wanders between bushes in a designated area. It may occasionally catch a beetle near the bushes purely for fun, without providing any gameplay benefit. During this time, it performs idle animations such as blinking, looking around, and grazing.

When the Hedgehog is fed and active, its behavior changes. It patrols your plants, actively hunts and catches beetles, and moves between locations by walking or running. Between hunting rounds, it may pause briefly before continuing its patrol.

Tips for Best Results

To get the most out of your Hedgehog, keep it fed regularly so it can continue hunting bugs. Maintaining more than forty growing plants ensures you reach the highest protection tier shown in the table above. It’s also recommended to keep Hedgehog food stocked in your inventory so you can feed it as soon as the effect expires.

Summary

Each feeding lasts 8 hours. During that time, the Hedgehog protects a number of plants based on how many growing plants you have, as shown in the table above. You must have more than 10 growing plants to receive any protection. Each protected plant grants +1 extra product when harvested. The curl animation can be triggered by clicking the Hedgehog three times within 1.5 seconds.

Enjoy your helpful Hedgehog companion!
